Rehearsals for 2017!

Hey everyone!

We hope that you all had some wonderful times over the holidays, and that you are energized for a new semester of flute music!

With the arrival of the new year, we will also be installing a few new changes to the flute choir.  Recently, the Flute Choir has received a number of requests to perform for various organizations and events.  In order to provide high quality music for such events and still provide a lower pressure environment for all flutists to play, we have decided to provide each opportunity separately.

Starting this semester, we will be running a performance group separately from the normal flute choir.  The main differences are outlined below:

The ‘Play to Perfect’ Group The ‘Play to Perform’ Group
  • Cover fewer pieces
  • Focus on skill development and building technique with a flute player from the faculty of music
  • Work towards 1 recital at end of semester
  • Continue to build and stay familiar with a large repertoire of music
  • Focus on building a high standard of music for special events and paid performances
EXPECTATIONS:

  • Aim to arrive on time to as many rehearsals as you comfortably can with your schedule
  • Practice at home when you can
  • Work on music for 1 part

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Must be ON TIME to all possible rehearsals (except for extenuating circumstances)
  • Have parts printed and practiced for that week’s list of pieces
  • Be familiar with at least 2 parts from each piece
  • Be able to commit to multiple performances in a semester
Rehearsals:

Wednesday 6-8pm Perez 407

Rehearsals:

Mondays 5:30-7 UCU207

Effectively, the ‘Play for Fun’ group will continue to operate as the normal flute choir did last semester, just with less pressure.  Anyone is welcome to play in either group, but please be aware that if we feel you are not displaying the level of commitment we need to provide high quality music in the ‘Play to Perform’ group, you may be asked to wait until your schedule allows you to work towards meeting our expectations.
We look forward to playing with you again this semester! If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us!
